Alan Michael Sugar was born on March 24, 1947 in Hackney, east London.

The Sunday Times Rich List estimated Lord Sugar’s net worth at £ 1.21 billion.

This makes him the 121st richest person in the UK.

Lord Sugar was President of Tottenham Hotspur from 1991 to 2001.

A staunch supporter of the team, Sugar partnered with Terry Venables to buy the club out to help him get out of financial trouble.

However, two years later, Sugar sacked Venables and went on to win a legal battle against him when the former footballer appealed to the high courts.

The move was unpopular among fans, who believed he treated the club like a business rather than a passionate project.

In 2001 he sold the majority of his shares for around £ 22million, before selling the rest six years later for £ 25million.
