Christopher Julius Rock was born in 1965 in Andrews, South Carolina. His family moved to Brooklyn, New York before finally settling in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Rock first entered the world of stand-up comedy in 1984 at the “Catch a Rising Star” club in New York. He started gaining recognition slowly and started getting roles in TV shows like “Miami Vice”.
